Shepherd Kelly

Today is the re-start of discipline 101 in the Blevins household. Yes, we are having to review...go back a few grades because our children need a review desperately. I'm not sure what happened, other than being out of routine for a while now, but they clearly forgot that we don't back-talk, yell at anyone (especially me), treat each other ugly, hit, stamp our feet, roll our eyes, disobey, etc...

So, I have gotten Shepherding A Child's Heart back out (Kelly Bullock - I promise to give this back one day) and am reading it from front to back again and re-doing it. Just give me the head-dress and a staff and call me Shepherd Kelly.

Wish us luck as we hop back on board the discipline train and venture full speed ahead into the land of respectful and loving children. We are training up our children... and I pray that very soon I will be able to post an update that is totally opposite of this one.

Couple of Things

I updated with 2 new posts...check them both out. Lots of fun cute pics.

7 Inches in My Backyard

This morning, we woke up to 7 inches of snow in our backyard.

The kids and I got dressed and headed outside to play in this winter wonderland

Brody threw snowballs at me, Cabot and David

Cabot observed the snow angel I made and then walked all over it. He rolled around in the snow and played outside like crazy. He was having a blast.

Chloe loves the snow.

Getting nailed with a snowball - thanks David

Heading to the backyard for more playtime

A slide with snow on it...makes for a fast ride!

Ring around the rosies, pocket full of posies, ashes ashes...

We all fall down!

Brody wanted to know who dipped the tree in snow! HA!!!

In our snow-fort!

SUGAR MOUNTAIN LAST WEEKEND! David and I took off last weekend to a ski adventure with our friends from Georgia and South Carolina. A big thank you to my parents for watching the kidlets so that we could have a fun getaway...a much needed one at that! On the way to my parents house (a 9 hr drive), we stopped in Asheville for about an hour to let the kids run around and get out some energy. I captured some really cute pics of that. Asheville has really grown and changed since I lived there 10 years ago.
Anyways, on Friday, David and I headed to the mountain to get a half-day of skiing in before the others arrived. We skiied for about 3 hours down the green and blue slopes (easy and moderate) and had a great time. I haven't skiied in 7 years so I knew it was going to be somewhat of a challenge but it was kind of like riding a never really forget. Admittedly, I did get a little nervous when David took me up on the blue slope without telling me we were advancing to the next level. I had to stop and literally pray for at least 3-4 minutes before I would ever turn my skiis downhill. Then, once my confidence got there, I took off slow at first and then just went with it. It was the best time!!! I did fall 4 times, but 3 of those times were on purpose because I just couldn't slow down quick enough to stop. David, a super great skiier didn't fall at all. He did an awesome job. After leaving the slopes, we went back to the mountain home we were staying in (thank you Bertinis!) and met up with our friends. We spent the rest of the evening catching up on everyone's lives and having a Just Dance 2 faceoff. Not to brag or anything, but I got the high score! Ah yeah! Sarah Markwell gave me a serious run for my money though. She and I may end up on So You Think You Can out!
Saturday, the whole crew went skiing...except me. I was super sore and my arm was swollen so I sat in the lodge and read my Kindle all day. It was glorious...truly glorious! Everyone had a great time and after getting back home, showering, and getting ready, we went out in Banner Elk for a little dinner and Memphis basketball. Afterwards, it was back home for some more Just Dance 2 and a board game.
Enough talk, here are some pictures, but first... Scott and Sarah, thank you for inviting us on this trip and for opening up your mountain home to us. We cannot wait to be able to go again. Sarah and Chris... thanks for emailing these pics of our trip. I'm totally lame and didn't take any! It was so awesome to see y'all again. We for sure want a dance faceoff next time. Team Blevins vs Team Markwell...Outkast! Get ready. Theo and Chrissy - so happy for y'all and the engagement! Congrats again and hope to see you when we are in Atlanta visiting family.

Fun Times To Start 2011

Chloe and I left last Saturday to head to DuPont, Washington to visit my younger brother, Jordan, his wife, Kim, and their sweet baby, Adalynn. We flew out of Nashville, up to Chicago, and then over to Seattle. The flight was pretty unremarkable...except for Chloe screaming before we even left TN when she dropped her bow on the plane. Her words, "Oh no mommy, my bow fell off the plane. I can hardly breathe." I laughed and then told her to calm down, it was just under her seat. She is oh so dramatic! In Chicago, we had a great time getting on and off the moving walk-ways. I think we did that at least 10 times before heading to our gate.
Anyways, we got to Washington just fine and settled in right away. We were thrilled to see family again. It had been such a long time...and we had never met Adalynn before. She is absolutely beautiful! She took right to us and we quickly became good friends. She laughed and smiled and played with us. She started looking for us when she couldn't see us, and she was quick on leaning in to share her sweet kisses with me and Chloe. She is such a good baby too. So chill! Nothing really makes her cry unless she is hungry or wet. Oh, and speaking of wet, I changed my first cloth diaper ever!!! I have to admit, they are just as quick and easy as disposables and a whole lot cuter.
While we were there, we were able to just relax and hang out together. We went to a new yogurt shop that had the feel of a ski lodge. We ate our yogurt on leather couches in front of a warm fire. We went shopping several times, ate at amazing delis, and got to see the capitol city, Olympia. At night, we played Just Dance 2 with Kim, and Jordan, and danced our feet off. I have great video of Jordan dancing to that song "They Call Me Stacy..." and Chloe dancing to "Oh Mickey You're So Fine...."
We spent 4 nights/5 days there and were sad to have to leave them. They live in an amazing lifestyle community about 30 miles south of Seattle. We have plans to go back in late summer and take the boys with us this time. Already looking forward to it!

Love this baby! Check out her mohawk strawberry blonde hair. So cute!

Chloe finally held her at the yogurt shop.

These are the fingers that she loves best! Oh, I miss her so much!

Chloe with Yogi...again at the yogurt shop. She also informed me that the man working there looked like Yogi Bear and was loud like Yogi. Thankfully, he didn't hear her.

Quick Post

Just hopping on here to say that I am super excited! Chloe and I leave at 7:00 tomorrow morning from Nashville to fly out to Seattle to visit my younger brother, his wife, and their 3 month old baby girl, Adalynn. I have not met my new niece yet so I am chomping at the bits to get there. Chloe has had her bag of toys packed for over a week now and has been counting down how many "sleeps" she has left until we leave.
Next time I check back in, I will have a post full of some sweet pictures of baby girl. Be on the look-out!
