Voting...

Well, I did it...I voted today! I absolutely love to vote as I really believe that it is a privelege and responsibility so I do not take it lightly. I research the candidates thoroughly (although this year I didn't really have to in order to make the best decision)and on election night, David and I usually watch the coverage on FOX news. It's always very exciting!
This year, I just have a terrible feeling in the pit of my stomach that makes me cringe when I think of where this country could possibly be headed. Maybe it's because my little brother has been in Iraq for nearly a year and still has several more months to go - I don't want his time there to be in vain as I don't believe in just giving up after all the progress that has been made (which will never be aired on our liberal media) and lives that have been sacrificed. Maybe it's because I am already thinking ahead to how things may be when Chloe and Brody get older. It really matters to me who is elected and the morals and values that they have and display. I have really been praying about it and ask that everyone do the same. I guess that the peace that I have found is that no matter who wins the title of President of the United States of America, that God will always "out rank" them.

Halloween Party at the DiMarco's

I just want to say a huge THANK YOU to Amy for hosting the Halloween Party! It was so much fun! Everything was perfect from the playtime to the artsy things to the food etc... We really appreciate everything that you did for us. THANK YOU!!!!

And now come the pics...

Chloe being very picky about her food. Trust me when I say it was all delicious!

Chloe with her friends Blair and Adalee. They were all sitting at the little girls' table.

Trying to sip out of her pumpkin cup...notice her sippy cup is right beside of it though. She still just cannot get the concept of straws.

The whole crew...let's see, we had a lion, tiger, giraffe, peapod, bumblebee, Indiana Jones, Little Red Riding Hood, Cruella and 2 of her dalmations, a flower and a ladybug (Chloe is standing in front of them)

The party table. Each seat had a placemat with Halloween stickers for the kids to decorate it, a pumpkin cup, and a bag of goodies with a balloon attached. So cute and creative. Oh, and I didn't get the picture of it, but there were also shirts that were tie-dyed to look like pumpkins and the kids drew faces on them. She even had a onesie for Brody!!!

This is Chloe playing with the kitchen set that Amy's children have. I had decided to wait until next Christmas to get her one thinking that she would enjoy it more then, but she had such a blast playing with it and pretending to mix things, eat the food, etc... We may have to go ahead with our original plans for the kitchen set.

My little bumblebee. Isn't she the cutest bee that you've seen in quite a while?!?

OK - Chloe was refusing to wear her costume all morning. I told her she couldn't get any cookies or cake if she didn't wear her costume at the party (of course I would have let her...I'm not that mean!)...I was just trying to bribe her and she still said NO! So, I put Brody's on him and she immediately wanted hers on because he was wearing his.

Baby Brody...cutest little peapod!!!

Update on Brody

Today was Brody's 2 month well check. As I predicted, he is 11 pounds 1 ounce and 23 inches long. That means he has grown 3 pounds and 3 inches since birth. All in all it was a good appt. He did have to get 3 shots and 1 oral vaccine though and that was sad, but he was a real trooper.
Here are pics taken last night and this morning.

Ready for his 2 month check up

Bathtime is one of my favorite times with Brody. He loves just hanging out in the tub.

Thoughts...

I have been "tagged" to do this thought provoking exercise. If you read this and blog, I tag you to do this as well.

I search: for Chloe's passies every single night. She loves to take all 11 of them to bed with her! It never fails that we will get down to about 3 and then they will all miraculously re-appear. I personally thinks she stashes them for safe-keeping.

I regret: eating those darn M&Ms this morning. They are so not on the diet plan. Looks like I'll be hitting the pavement twice today.

I love: when my kids smile at me like I am their favorite person in the whole world.

I care: about this election more than any other one that I have ever had the privelege to vote in.

I always: check my email

I worry: about Brody's health, Chloe's speech (although it is expanding SO much), and my little brother who is in Iraq

I am not: a naturally patient person...however having 2 kids under 2 has really taught me tons of patience!

I remember: what it's like to have a date with my husband thanks to the Weatherford's who took both of our kids the other night for almost 3 hours!!! We had the best time just talking and reconnecting with each other with no worries of when the next cry would come, or the next "mama mama."

I believe: in heaven and that the way to get there is by trusting and believing in Jesus Christ as my Savior.

I sing: Praise and Worship music in my car and the theme to Word World in the house with Chloe. I secretly LOVE that theme song!!!

I dance: at weddings with David, and around the house with Chloe.

I don't always: take the dog out because I have human beings to take care of first. Poor Cabot has taken a third-row seat now that Brody has arrived.

I argue: about things that I am passionate about.

I write: everything on my refrigerator calendar and my day planner.

I win: every time that David and I play Scrabble.

I lose: my mind at least once/day and it's usually at 6:00 when Chloe needs a bath before bed but is screaming to watch a cartoon, and Brody is screaming because he wants to be held.

I wish: that I could see the world through my children's eyes. It's so fun to watch them soak up everything around them and wonder what they are thinking.

I listen: to my heart most of the time.

I don't understand: how I can follow a recipe and it still doesn't come out right.

I can usually be found:
by phone

I am scared: of this upcoming election and where our country is headed

I need: at least a 30 minute breather each day where I do nothing but rest. Hmmm...why can't I do just that when the kids are napping?

I forget: anything that I don't write down. I even made a list last night and on that list was to make a list for groceries and another list for Chloe's birthday details

I am happy: being a stay-at-home-mom. Five years ago I would have never imagined that I would want to give up my career as an Peds Critical Care nurse, but now I can never imagine going back to it.

Happy 2 Months to Brody!!!

WOW!!! I cannot believe that my baby boy is now 2 months old. These 2 months have flown by so fast. He's doing great and growing like a weed. I'm guessing that he is 23 inches by now and 11 pounds...I'll know for sure on Thursday at his 2 month check-up. He's sleeping great! We get him ready for bed around 7:30 and he falls asleep shortly there after. Then we give him a "dream feeding" right before we hit the sack and most of the time he doesn't even wake up for it. Then he will sleep on until 6:00-6:30 the next morning. So...we are looking at right around 8-10 hours of straight sleep. LOVE IT!!! He's starting to smile all of the time now when I talk to him. He knows his mama for sure! He's also starting to make a few cooing noises.

On to Chloe now...well, we experienced our first really really really bad temper tantrum at the mall tonight. And did I mention that it was REALLY BAD?!? So here's what happened. She grabbed my chapstick out of the diaper bag and started smearing it all over her face and hands. Then she started digging into it with her fingernails so I took it away from her. Can you believe what a terribe mother I am? Oh, the horror. Well, then it started. She started out just crying and protesting by yelling "no no no no..." Then she threw her body into it and started flailing around in the stroller - thank God I fastened her in this time! Then came the all out screaming bloody murder - and it was an "I'm really ticked off" scream. So, we started heading towards the car which of course was at the other end of the mall. Along the way, we ran into our worship minister from church and his wife. We stopped briefly to talk to them and found out that they were wondering who the screaming kid was that they heard...yep, that would be Miss Chloe! Proud to say that during this entire tantrum, I kept my cool and actually had to smile at some points because it was just too much. We made it to the car and of course she was fine then. Wow - she's not even 2 yet. I think my hands will be full in the coming years.

Here are some new pics from this past week. Oh, and I will be back on Thursday to post Brody's stats after his pediatrician appt.

Chloe's halloween outfit...I think it's cute and David thinks it's tacky. Chloe doesn't care either way.

Chloe in her "sock monkey" pajamas. They are flannel and so super cute on her! She looks so grown up in them...I think we laughed for 20 minutes after I put them on her.

This is what Mr. Brody thinks of tummy time...

Look at those baby blue eyes...I so hope that they stay that blue.

This morning Chloe and Brody were watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse together. I cannot believe that they actually have the VERY SAME expression. That's the most that I've seen the similarities in them.

Another picture to show off how long he is...will find out for sure his length at his 2 month check up on Thursday. I'm guessing at least 23 inches.

Just Random Things

So today we took the kidlets to a pumpkin patch in Clarksville. We had a blast! There was a little animal farm with sheep, goats, alpacas, horses, chickens and roosters. Chloe absolutely loved the sheep! She even had a "conversation" with them. It sounded like this...
Sheep: Baaaaa
Chloe: BAAAAAAAAA
Sheep: Baaaaa
Chloe: BAAAAAAAAA

Chloe was always louder than the sheep! I bet we sat there FOREVER!!! Then we ventured over to the corn maze and a big slide. We spent a few hours there and came back a filthy mess.
Enjoy the pics of our little adventure...

Posing with the pumpkins

Chloe and Brody before we left

Sitting around talking to the sheep - they are there even though you can't see them

Us in the corn maze

Walking away from the slide after we flew down it. On the way down, Chloe yelled "WEEEEEE!"

"Farmer Brody"

Let's see...what else?!? Chloe has been expanding her vocab a lot lately. Some of her newest words/phrases/songs are:
"stop sign" after which she yells "STOP!"
"word world" (a cartoon on PBS that she LOVES)
she sings her blessing before meals
she sings the theme songs to Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Word World
she attempts to sing her ABC's
she can count to 3
I'm just so excited about all of this as we have waited a long time to hear her conversing with us using words that we truly understand.

Anyways, here are some other random pics for your viewing pleasure.

Big Smile!!!

Ready to go to the pumpkin patch

Just a cute picture of my baby girl! Who by the way now will tell you that she is a "big girl."

Brody will be 3 peas in a pod for Halloween

Chloe will be a bumble-bee

Oh Where, Oh Where Has My Little Girl Gone?

So today I went into Chloe's room to get her up from her nap so that I could go to the Y for a workout. Upon entering the room, IT WAS EMPTY!!! A few seconds of panic set in, but then I realized she had to be in there as she can't open doors yet. I checked the closet, but nope, she wasn't in there. I checked the corner beside her dresser as she likes to hide there sometimes, but again, not there. Then, I just happened to look underneath her crib and there she was, fast asleep. I cannot believe that she even got under there as the mattress is on the lowest setting it can be on and there is really not that much room under there. But nonetheless, she was under there laying curled up on her side snoozing away. Of course, I ran to get the camera and this is what I captured on film...

Toddler bed with NO TODDLER IN IT!!!

And there she is...snoozing away

Also, last Sunday after church, I decided it would be fun to make Pumpkin cookies with Chloe and then decorate them with icing. So... I put her up next to the counter and she helped me with the whisking (yes, I actually own a whisk - and use it - SHOCKING, I know!) and the icing of the cookies. She had a blast and by the time it was over, she was as orange as the cookies were...and her hair was too! Here are some pictures of that too.

Answers...maybe. Oh, and some new Pics

OK - not the best picture of Chloe, but it is her in the middle of screaming "CHEEEEEEESE!"

Don't you just love that smile? And...notice the dimple on the right side. So cute!

This is just a picture so that you can see how long Brody is. Hmmm, is he going to be long and lean like his Uncle Jordan? If so, that's the only bit of Howell that he has in him as he doesn't look a thing like me.

Chloe in her new Halloween shirt. Thank you Uncle Jordan and Aunt Kim! Oh, and I have had to hide the shirt because it lights up and Chloe wants to play with it and now wear it all of the time.

Now on to updates...Brody has now been started on Zantac for what his pediatrician believes is a bad case of GERD. It will take up to 5 days to see the full results, but I should start seeing some change in the next day or so. I will say that this morning he woke up at 5:30 so I dosed him with the medicine then fed him 20 minutes later...he is HAPPY right now!!! Kicking and smiling away. Please pray that this is the answer that we have been searching for.

Oh, and upon waking this morning, I heard Chloe serenading us with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Seriously, if she sings it once a day, she sings it 100 times! She is still in her room as I haven't gone to get her up yet and she is still singing away. I LOVE IT!!! Oh, and yesterday in the car, I had my Chris Tomlin CD playing and looked in the back seat at Chloe and she was swaying back and forth and smiling like crazy. However, that doesn't beat the time that I had Daniel Doss's CD playing and looked back at her and she was "singing" and raising her hands - praising God at the ripe old age of 22 months! Never to early to start, huh?

Just another pic of Chloe in her new shirt.

DEFEATED....

That is truly the best word to describe how I am feeling right now. We did get good news at Vandy yesterday though about the hard lump around Brody's incision. Turns out that it is just a ridge of scar tissue that has formed and it may take a year to smooth back out. So...that is not the cause for the screaming and apparent belly pain that he has. Hmmm...on to thought #2. The word "colic" has now been mentioned to us twice now as a possibility for his screaming episodes, but we just don't believe it. He does not have the classic colic signs (3 days/week, 3 hours at a time, and starting at 3 weeks old) and is a bit too old to just now be getting it. However, after reading up in The Baby Book written by world-famous pediatrician Dr. Sears, most of the time when doctors use the word "colic" it is because they have no idea what is causing a baby's pain. Most of the time colic is actually acid reflux or GERD that goes undiagnosed. So, David and I decided last night to start documenting everything that Brody does to see if we can come up with a pattern for his screaming/pain episodes - maybe it really is reflux. That would be great as there is an easy fix for that most of the time! I started this morning with the journaling, but before I could even finish writing the first feeding down, he projectile vomited what David thinks was about 2 feet! Since then, he has only had about 1 hour of awake time that he was actually content. The rest of the time if he's been awake, he's been screaming. David strongly suggested (okay - insisted) I call Brody's doctor today and speak directly with her about this. I really hate to do that because part of me just wants to accept that this is just the way things are going to be, but then again, another part of me says "no, you know your baby and something isn't right. Be his voice since he can't be his own voice." So...I decided after mulling it over all day to make the call about an hour ago. I'm just waiting to hear back from her now. David is scared that maybe his pylorus muscle closed up again (very rare - but not unheard of) since he had that 2 foot vomit, and I don't know what to think. To be perfectly honest, I'm tired of thinking about it, tired of worrying, tired of trying to figure it out, and just plain tired period. I've been in prayer more in the past 4 weeks than ever (at least it feels that way right now), and I just want God to restore health and happiness to my baby...and the rest of us too. I know that there is a purpose in all of this and that nothing that God does is un-intentional, so I know that when this is over, I will be able to see the blessing.
