Just Some Pictures

Brody continues to do well! He is eating 2.5-3 ounces every 4 hours or so and is sleeping like a champ. Chloe is also continuing to do well with having a little brother in the house. She actually touched him today which may be the first time since we've brought him home that she's done that. I am feeling great other than some soreness which I totally expect to continue to a few more weeks. Enjoy the pictures of our kiddos.

Chloe crying when Brody was getting his diaper changed. I think she thought he was hurting. So sweet!

Home For A Week Now...

Yep, that's right, we've been home for a week now and things are going really well. OK, there is one bit of bad news...remember the post about us getting Oscar the fish for Chloe, well, he jumped to his death on August 17th. David filled his water tank too full and the poor little guy decided that that was his chance to get away from the chaos that was about to ensue. Oh well, that's one less mouth to feed now. Rest in peace Oscar.
Now on to Brody. He is doing GREAT! He is a wonderful baby so far. He eats about every 3 hours and sometimes will stretch it to 4 hours at night. He's not really a fussy kid and is easily settled by swaddling if he does get fussy. We took him to his first appointment last Saturday and so far, so good. He is down to 7.5 pounds, but no worries there. I think when I take him back next week for his 2 week check that he will have gained back his weight plus some. He's becoming more and more alert with every passing day and we actually started some tummy time yesterday. Our little guy can already turn his head from side to side at times. He continues to look more and more like David with every passing day. I cannot get over how much they look alike. He does have a few of Chloe's features though when I look back at her pictures at this age.
Speaking of Chloe...she is such a good big sister! She doesn't really pay too much attention to Brody yet, but when she does, it is super sweet. She loves to bring me his passy, and bottles, and will occasionally help me shake his bottle up. She also has shown me her sensitive side in regards to Brody. At times when he cries and can't be consoled easily (in the car when I can't reach him, or during diaper changes), she will cry as well with big ol' crocodile tears. She's done this 3 times now and I can't help but think that they truly are tears because she feels like he is scared or hurting. So sweet!
That's it for now. Pictures coming soon, and more updates as time allows.

Brody David Blevins is here!!!!

Just a short note to let everyone know that on Monday, 8/18 at 1:22 in the afternoon, Brody David Blevins was born. He was 8 pounds and 20 inches long. He is doing well and I am recovering from my C-Section just fine. We came home from the hospital on August 21 which coincidentally was mine and David's wedding anniversary. What a great way to celebrate it by bringing home our healthy son!
Chloe is also doing great with Brody. She doesn't show a whole lot of interest in him just yet, but today when he was crying she did hand me a bottle...she's getting the hang of it!
Anyways, pics and more details later.

As If A Dog Weren't Enough...

Today started out as a normal day for the Blevins family. David set off to work while Chloe and I started our morning with an episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and breakfast. After we finished, we got ready and set off to run a few errands. We ran to Wal-Mart for a couple of items and then over to Hobby Lobby for some scrapbooking essentials. I am going to try very hard to catch her scrapbook up before Monday. Anyways, she was so good during the errands that I decided to take her to PetSmart to look at the animals. We started out with the cats which she LOVED, then made our way to the birds and hamsters. She was completely mesmerized by the birds and kept batting her eyes when they would fly in the cage near her. It was really fun to watch. Anyways, after a while of that, we made our way to the fish where I decided it would be really fun to get her a fish...don't really know where the idea came from, but here I sit now, with a fish. He's really cute I guess. He is a red betta and we decided to name him Oscar - okay, Chloe didn't have much say in the name, but she didn't say "no" when I asked if she wanted to name him Oscar. I am sure that David is going to be very surprised when he gets home and sees the newest member of our family and realizes that while the newest member should be the baby, it's just a fish.
Hopefully Chloe will enjoy Oscar and more so I hope that we don't kill him in the process of trying to get him acclimated to his new surroundings. Chloe has already tried to dip her hand in the tank and pet him. Poor Oscar...I really don't think he stands a chance... Pray for him.

One More Week...

So we are down to just 7 short days from Baby Boy's arrival!!! I can't believe that at this very time (1:00) next Monday that I will be in the OR having my C-Section. I'm actually trying hard NOT to think about it as I don't want to work myself up over it.

Anyways, I decided that each day this week, that Chloe and I would go somewhere fun or do something special together since I will be down and out for a while so to speak. So today, we went to Chuck E Cheese (she had never been before). Let me first off say that Chloe had a great time until it was time to actually eat. She loved all of the games, slides, lights and sounds. I, on the other hand, decided very quickly that I should always bring a back-up when I go there since Chloe is so young and has to be watched like a hawk. For me, it is definitly a 2-parent place from now on. We stayed for about an hour and then Chloe started into melt-down mode so we had to leave. I think tomorrow we will hit the library for some indoor play time.

Anyways, our to-do list is almost complete. I have packed what I can into my hospital bag and the rest of it is last minute stuff. The double stroller has been put together and it is wonderful! I am going to get the car seat base installed into my car this afternoon when Chloe naps, and then the only thing left is to get David to hang the pics in the nursery which he says he plans on doing tonight. The only thing left to do after tonight then is WAIT. Hmmm...that may just be the hardest thing.

Less Than 2 Weeks Now...

So I had another OB appointment this morning which was very uneventful - which is good! Baby's heartbeat is great, I'm measuring perfect, and all else is well. I go back for my final appointment on Friday, the 15th....unless of course I go into labor on my own.

So the list of to-do's continue to get smaller. I sat down and made my packing list last night of things things to take to the hospital. I am going to try to muster enough energy to get packed during Chloe's nap today. I've started contracting again so I want to be ready just in case. So far though, I have the contractions every 6-10minutes for a while and then they sort of just die down and go away. They are nothing too terribly painful, but they are uncomfortable.

Since all of our family has left, I've found that I am missing them more and more with each passing day. It's been really hard to take care of my sweet Chloe and be the best parent that I can be when all I really want and need to do is lay down and rest. I feel like I'm not giving her all that I should be and it is really breaking my heart. I did get out with my friend Sonya the other day though so Chloe and her little girl got to play together for a while. They had a really good time and were very cute together. That was so nice as I haven't been able to really see my friends since bedrest started in early July. Thank you Sonya for suggesting that we meet up!!! It really boosted my spirits a lot.

Well, that's the update for now. Only 11 more days until we meet sweet baby boy.
